jade rolling, and why its trending

Facial rollers are all over social media, so it’s no wonder you’ve probably seen them by now. But why are people rolling a piece of jade on their faces and how could it possibly have benefits? We do all love the latest fads and trends…so what’s the tea on this one?!

So what is the jade roller?

Jade rollers are exactly what they sound like.  The truth is, jade rolling is actually an ancient Chinese technique that has been around since the 17th century, similar to the gua sha technique. Often times, you will see the roller made of actually jade or even rose quartz. These little beauties are known to have many benefits for your skin, no matter what the age. And c’mon… it’s just so pretty to have in your medicine cabinet, or even sitting on your coffee table!

What are the benefits?

These little babies seem so simple. But they truly do have benefits for your skin. They are known to be used as a daily lymphatic massage. Lymphatic massage reduces inflammation and tightens the skin, as well as promoting collagen production. This is the easiest way to get a daily at home spa experience. At the comfort of my couch? In my pajamas? I’m down! When used correctly, rolling on the forehead can help to reduce sinus pressure. Improvement of circulation is a known benefit which aids in faster healing and cellular turnover. You can also put your roller in the fridge and use in the morning for a refreshing depuff. Anything cold on your skin will help to depuff and reduce inflammation. Yes please!

How do I use it?

Always start with cleansed skin people! It is so important to always have a fresh canvas to work with. It is recommended to use your jade roller in upward and outward motions. This direction will help to lift and tighten the skin, reducing the production of wrinkles. Rolling downward will pull the skin down and aid in causing wrinkles… and let’s be real here! None of us want that. You can even add a serum to your skin before use for added moisture or to just feel even more luxurious. Let’s not to forget, always cleanse your roller after use to avoid bacteria build up. There are definitely bacteria and oils on our skin that we don’t want to build up on the roller and cause breakouts. No thanks!

I’m so excited to share some of my beauty tips and tricks that I have learned with my community. Stay tuned for more.

love and light
